Grant Manager

OASES is one of the largest nonprofit after school providers in Oakland, serving over 400 low-income youth annually. OASES recruits and trains 400 U.C. Berkeley students--the largest volunteer force in any Oakland Unified School District after school program. OASES engages youth in opportunities that often are not offered during the school day including leadership, environmental education, diversity education, financial literacy, arts, and more.
The Grant Manager is a key member of the OASES Development Team to plan, design and implement fundraising strategies. The Grant Manager is responsible for the management of fundraising programs related to grants - including private, public, corporate, and foundation resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
A. Research & Prospecting
- Research and prioritize grant prospects
- Maintain data and tracking system for grant prospecting
- Design and implement an agency calendar with grant application deadlines
- Overall plan, selection, and decision-making regarding grant and foundation opportunities
B. Proposal & Grant Writing
- Manage grant submission process including: drafting/editing letters of intent and proposals, tracking, scheduling and authoring proposal submissions, and following-up with funders
- Collaborate with program staff to design program goals and objectives
- Work with Deputy Director to develop project budgets
- Manage multiple writing projects for grant proposals to ensure timely submissions
C. Grant Reporting & Administration
- Design and implement an agency-wide grant reporting calendar to meet submission deadlines
- Manage staff participation in grant reporting including meetings, report writing, calendaring, and editing
- Collaborate with Senior Program Director to manage OASES program evaluation deliverables for grant compliance
D. Funding Relations & Communications
- Cultivate relationships and maintain communication with funders
- Participate in strategic external meetings related to fundraising and community relations
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience with grant writing and reporting and program evaluation processes
- Experience with fiscal analysis, grant budgeting, and financial reporting
- Strong analytical written and oral communication skills
- Superior research skills, including database and library search
- Knowledge of Bay Area non-profit community (including youth organizations), funding resources, foundations, corporate giving, public agencies, and political landscape
- Outstanding organizational skills and extremely high level of attention to details
- Outstanding networking, negotiation, presentation, and strategic meeting skills
- Ability to network with other community organizations, educational organizations, and business organizations to identify potential resources
- Excellent office management and computer literacy skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Salesforce)
- Experience with and sensitivity to communities of color, immigrant communities, and communities with limited resources
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
SALARY RANGE
Competitive salary commensurate with experience (1.0 FTE)
